Care Pantry:
The Hope Care Pantry assists people by providing items that will help them care for themselves and their family during difficult times.  Hygiene products, baby, children, and teen supplies, elderly special need items, and household items are offered to the clients.  The Care Pantry also strives to build relationships with the guests and empower those who attend with Christ’s love.
Service Blitzes:
Each quarter Hope Presbyterian Church performs a service blitz.  During the service blitz, teams of individuals from the church go to locations in the community to help with different projects or assemble kits/packages at the church. Previous projects have been painting the Spicer library conference room, assembling goodie plates for the local fire and police departments, yard clean-up for families, and blessing bags for those in the community.

Birthday Kits:
Hope Presbyterian Church’s birthday kit ministry provides birthday party supplies, cake, and small gifts to families who might not be able to afford those things themselves.  The youth from Hope Presbyterian Church collect supplies, assemble the kits, and make birthday cards for the individuals who receive the kits.

Hooked on Hope:
Hooked on Hope Ministries seeks to provide love and acceptance to those who were formerly incarcerated and who struggle with addictions.  Hope tries to come along side those who are struggling to help with their physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs through this ministry.

Hope to Home Meals:
Once a month homemade meals are prepared for those who are homebound, have experienced health issues, lost a loved one, or any other reason that requires a little extra love through food.  Once the meals are made, the food is delivered by members of Hope Presbyterian Church.

Prayer Shawls:
Hope Presbyterian Church gives beautiful handmade prayer shawls to those who are facing a difficult time, struggling with health issues, are baptized and/or confirmed. The handmade pocket prayer shawls have also been given to out at funerals and have been given to individuals on mission trips.
KGLH Radio Station:
As a part of our mission to the New London - Spicer area, Hope Presbyterian Church started our own radio station in 2003. KGLH is broadcasted 24 hours a day and offers gospel music along with other programs for listeners.  Each Sunday morning the church’s 10:00 am worship service is broadcasted as well as some evening services.

The Link:
The Link is an outreach organization that provides services to individuals and families in the northern Kandiyohi County communities through interfaith community service.  Community members in need are able to use The Link for gas cards, rental assistance, food vouchers, and many other things.  Hope Church partners with this organization to ensure the needs of those in the community are being met through available resources accessible through The Link.

PRESBYTERIAN MEN’S CLUB -- A group of Presbyterian Men serving Church & Community

  • Meets monthly for breakfast followed by a business meeting
  • Most known for our Burger Stand. Each Wednesday from Memorial to Labor Day, the group serves burgers and / brats, chips and pop to the community in the Church parking lot. It’s a great fellowship time for the men. It raises money for the group to use/give. It provides a needed service to a community which has had great trouble keeping a restaurant -- good, quick food, and a place to gather and visit with friends
  • Every year or two, we sponsor a benefit for a person/family who’ve experienced a life changing event / illness / loss
  • We regularly do service projects for the community/school/etc.
  • We donate finances to support the Church’s budget or special project needs
  • We periodically sponsor special fellowship events for the group/church/and others
WINNEBAGO PRESBYTERIAN NEXT-TO-NEW -- The “Next-to-New” has been a mission project of the Winnebago Presbyterian Women since 1968. Organized with a two-fold purpose:
  1. To earn money for missions
  2. To make donated used or new clothing and small household items available at low cost to thrift area residents and the yearly influx of agricultural migrant workers.

The mission has grown over the years -- donations and shoppers now come from fifteen or more miles away in search of good bargains, unique or even antique items.

A former gas station building adjacent to the church has housed the shop since the 1970 purchase of the property by the church for additional parking.

Staffed entirely by volunteers, Next-to-New is guided by a steering committee of three. One morning a week is “work day,” when the major part of the sorting, pricing, steaming an displaying is done. The shop is open on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Money raised supports a wide variety of Presbyterian and other missions, including the Winnebago Presbyterian Church, such groups as the Salvation Army, local fire department, Adolescent Treatment Center Auxiliary, local ambulance, etc. Clothing and other supplies are also provided at no cost in hardship cases, disasters and other crises.

Recycling is also a vital part of the effort. Surplus items and those not meeting Next-to-New standards, are packed for other uses. Metal, plastic and cardboard are recycled. 100% cotton items are bagged as rags for local industries. Period clothing is offered to local theater groups; items of local interest go to the museum, and non-useable fabric items go to DAV for recycling. Major recipients of wearable excess clothing and bedding include the area “King’s Aides” project, which takes several semi-trailer loads to south Texas and Mexico each year; and the Epilepsy Foundation, which also collects books, dishes and other small items.

Additional bonuses of the project include the friendships developed among the volunteers, the fellowship during coffee time, the support during trying times of personal crisis, and the over-all satisfaction of doing something worthwhile to help others.
