The meeting was opened with Karen Ferkinhoff reading devotions from the Children's Mission Yearbook and leading us in prayer. The Presbytery Nominating Committee and Presbytery have elected Karen Ferkinhoff as chairperson. Deb Klaassen volunteered to take the minutes for this meeting. The minutes of the 10/27/05 meeting were approved as written. No money has been used out of the 2006 budget as of yet so some time was spent clarifing what our money is specifically used for. Some discussion was held on forgetting the retreat at Shalom Hillss to save money and have a meeting at Willmar instead. The attendance of committee members was discussed as numbers seem to be faltering.
Correspondence
Request received from Mark Chapman for $250 to complete The Church As Learning Community course. M/S/C to deny this request. Karen Ferkinhoff will send Mark a letter to inform him of this decision. The committee needs to discuss the possibility of future scholarship applications and what requirements the committee will follow.
Other correspondence included a word of thanks from Sue Collier for cutting our budget, a list of resources for family ministry, APCE resources brought back by Karen Ferkinhoff and a brief introduction on some new "We Believe" material.
Brochere
It was decided to make some changes. Robert Raedeke will work on the Evangelism and Stewardship sections, Kathy Knips New Mission Statement, Deb Klaassen Christian Ed. and Karen Ferkinhoff, contact information. The changes will be sent to Karen Lange so she can have a rough draft ready for our next meeting.
Presbytery Resource Table
Nothing needed at the next meeting.
Karen Ferkinhoff passed a sheet around for volunteers to sign up for meeting devotions and prayer and also the offertory and prayer at the Presbytery meetings. Someone will also have to provide information for the Presbytery packet. Deb Klaassen will provide the offering information for the May packet.
Presbyterian Youth Connection
Will be held July 12-15, 2006. Costs were discussed. In the past, we have covered advisors costs and air fare for participants. The question was raised if we have enough time to get a group together. Information on the event is very slow in coming. We will see what kind of a response we get from the Valley Bridge article.
Stewardship and Evangelism
Would like to do something to highlight Reformation Sunday. Possibly a special order of worship, after worship a Reformation potluck and video Some stewardship and evangelism ideas were discussed. In April, we will bring our ideas for evangelism that work in our own churches. In August, we will decide on things for Stewardship and the Reformation Sunday.
Karen Ferkinhoff will put an article in the Valley Bridge for camp scholarships. Another article will be put in the Valley Bridge later about the 2007 Trienium so people can plan ahead.
M/S/C to adjourn the meeting at 1:05 with prayer given by Mark Chamberlain.
