Pastor Dan Billings opened our meeting with prayer.
Minutes of the February 17 meeting were approved, with the exception of Dan Smith noted as being both absent and present.
Stewardship:
-Kathy Terpstra reported on the Stewardship conference in April. Six churches were represented, with 26 evaluations being filled out and returned, all positive.
-$1,000.00 had been budgeted. Although the final numbers have not come in yet, Kathy believed the cost of the conference had come in under budget.
-Stewardship booklets will be distributed to churches after 19 additional ones are located.
2007 budget was reviewed and approved.
Christian Education:
-Jackie Moore will be applying for a grant to cover the cost of a national speaker for the CE workshop on November 12. If her grant application is unsuccessful, or only partial funding is approved, the committee approved that CE funds could be used, also.
-Camp scholarship applications in the amount of $1,000. were received and approved, with $2,000. remaining. Committee authorized Dan B. to approve future applications and authorize the distribution of funds till our June 12 meeting.
Mission:
-Dan B. talked about youth trip to Sioux Falls.
-Daniel Joseph is a person Dan B. would like us to consider having as a speaker at the Mission Fest in September.
-11 Synod school applications have been received and were approved at $100.00 per applicant. $750.00 + $500. of Mission funds and $350. of Leadership money remains. Again, Dan B. was authorized to approve future applications and authorize the distribution of funds till our June 12 meeting.
-Sudanese Partnership- They are reviewing PIFs
-Special offerings at Presbytery meetings-Pentecost offering will be taken at May 7 Presbytery meeting, discussion re: use of those funds was held, no decision was made. We will come to June meeting with specific ideas.
Evangelism:
-Bob Raedeke was recruited/volunteered to serve on PIFLW. Nominating committee will be notified.
-September 25 is Evangelism Sunday. Deb, Dan S. and Bob have come up with some ideas on how to get people fired up about implementing evangelism in their churches. A skit based on a story brought by Bob R. will be presented at the May 7 Presbytery meeting.
Goals and objective planning:
-Dan B. reiterated that we will need to prayerfully consider who will be our next chairperson, as his term expires in January 2006.
-Certificates will be printed up and sent to churches who have committed to year-round stewardship.
-During our next meeting in June, we will prepare for Mission Fest on September 7.
******Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 16 @ 10:00 at the Presbytery office.
