The Stated meeting of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys was called to order with prayer at 10:00 a.m. by vice- moderator, Elder LeRoy Ennenga.

We sang “The Servant Song”

The Rev.Anna Williamson welcomed the Presbytery on behalf of the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church of Brown’s Valley, Minnesota.

A quorum was established.  First time commissioners were introduced.

The new pastors to our Presbytery Christopher Drew, Sarah Butler, Barb Whipple were introduced by the Committee on Ministry Moderator, Richard Underdahl-Peirce .

PRESBYTERY VOTED to seat the following as corresponding members: Mirna Cifuentes de Sanchez, representing the women of the Occidente Presbytery, Miguel Rios Gallardo, Presbytery treasurer, Pastor Rogelio Orellana Ajqui and Ilsi Cifuentes Calderon

PRESBYTERY VOTED to grant the following people voice:  Karen Houtman, Elder from Canby, Nancy Sutton, the translator for our Guatamalan friends and Amanda Craft from the General Assembly Peacemaking office and Gloria VandeBrake, elder from Brainerd, First.

PRESBYTERY VOTED to approve the agenda with the addition of three items of new business: the Litchfield Church request for a loan (removed from the Consent Agenda), the Committee on Preparation for Ministry and the request from Cluster 2 for a Parish Nursing Program.

1.             Receive the Report of the Council, items of information(from May, June and August) and items of recommendation(from May and August) (Appendix A)

2.             Approve the minutes of the May 3, 2008 stated meeting, June 5, 2008 special meeting and the August 14, 2008 Special meeting of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys.

3.             Receive the Committee on Ministry report, items of information and two items of recommendation (Appendix B)

4.             Receive the Session Records Committee report (Appendix C)

5.             Receive the Executive Presbyter’s report(Appendix D)

6.             Receive the Committee on Representation report(Appendix E)

The following item was removed from the Consent Agenda under the Council report

COUNCIL VOTED to recommend to Presbytery the request from the Litchfield church to secure a loan for $30,000 at 5% with a six year repayment plan from the Presbytery Loan Fund to repair/renovate the structure connecting the church building and the education building because of water and structural problems and the creation of a handicap entrance.  The total cost of the project is $84,000; the remainder of the money is being secured through pledges.

We were led in the prayer of confession, assurance of God’s Grace and Love and sang the “Gloria Patri,” then shared the peace of Christ with one another.
