The Special meeting of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys was called to order with prayer at 10:00 a.m. by moderator, the Rev. Dawn Carder.

The purpose of the meeting is to examine two candidates for ordination and to elect the Rev. Scott Prouty to the Nominating Committee .

John Lindholm, co-chair of the Committee on Preparation for Ministry was called forward to introduce the candidates for ordination.  The first candidate was Barbara Whipple under care of the Donegal Presbytery and being called to the First Presbyterian Church, Fulda, Minnesota and the First Presbyterian Church, Slayton, Minnesota.  She shared her statement of faith, her spiritual autobiography, then read Scripture from Genesis 45:1-15, and preached a sermon.  The floor was opened to questions.  PRESBYTERY VOTED to cease the examination.  Barbara left the meeting.  Warren Hansen, clerk of session from Slayton and Loren Carlson, clerk of session from Fulda shared their journey and experiences with Barbara at their respective congregation.

PRESBYTERY VOTED to call the question and proceeded to voting upon the following action. 

PRESBYTERY VOTED to ask the Presbytery of Donegal to ordain Barbara Whipple on our behalf at a date and time to be determined by them, and upon her ordination to install her as a minister member on the rolls of the Presbytery of Minnesota Valleys. 

Barbara came back into the meeting.

PREBYTERY VOTED to concur with the request of the First Presbyterian Church, Fulda, Minnesota and the First Presbyterian Church, Slayton, Minnesota to approve the terms of call for Barbara Whipple as follows :

Salary:                                                $34,000.00

Full use of the Manse

Utilities paid by churches up to                $  4,200.00

Total                                                    $38,200.00

Reimbursable expenses and Board of Pensions

Student Loan Repayment                     $ 2,000.00

Auto Allowance at IRS rate:                  $ 6,000.00

Moving expenses                                 $ 3,000.00

Study Leave Allowance:                       $    750.00

Board of Pensions:                              $13,923.00

Four weeks of vacation including four Sundays per calendar year; two weeks of Continuing Education including two Sundays, cumulative to 6 weeks including six Sundays over three years, the Committee on Ministry conducted a fitness interview, the 148 is completed, AA/EOE guidelines were followed; she’ll become moderator when she starts on August 15, 2008.  The Committee on Ministry has assigned the Rev. Celeste Lasich as her mentor.

John Lindholm co-chair of the Committee on Preparation for Ministry came forward to introduce Christopher Drew, a candidate for ministry under care of the San Francisco Presbytery.  He is being called to the First Presbyterian Church, Jackson, Minnesota.  Christopher shared a little bit about himself and his statement of faith.  Then he read the Scripture from Matthew 28:16-20 and preached a sermon.  The floor was opened to questions.  PRESBYTERY VOTED to cease examination.  Christopher left the meeting.  Diane Froderman from the Jackson church brought forth the congregation’s experience with Christopher .

PRESBYTERY VOTED to ordain Christopher on behalf  of the San Francisco Presbytery and to establish an ordination/installation
